Malwarebytes Labs just released their CyberCrime Tactics and Techniques Q1 2019 report, which shows that the focus of cyber criminals has shifted from consumers to corporate targets. And while this data suggest that consumers are no longer being directly targeted, they are still at risk of having their data lifted from the businesses with whom they interact.

Highlights from the report include:

  • Detections of Trojans increased over 200% since the previous quarter and almost 650% from the same time last year.
  • Ransomware detections among businesses have increased 195% since last quarter and over 500% from the same time last year.
  • Mobile and Mac devices are increasingly targeted by adware. Mac malware increased over 60% and adware increased over 200% from the previous quarter.
  • Consumer focused malware detections declined, and this decrease is likely because of a significant decrease in the value of cryptocurrency similar to past trends.

In addition to threat analysis, the report covers privacy concerns and survey results. To read more about threats and trends, download the full report at Cybercrime Tactics and Techniques Q1 2019.
