WARNING: New Ransomware Affects Macintosh

Until recently, Apple users have felt relatively safe from malware. That is no longer the case.

As of Friday, a new malware threat called “KeRanger” began attacking Macintosh users through an application called Transmission. The KeRanger malware activates three days after the virus is loaded. Users who use the Transmission application need to upgrade immediately and run the 2.92 version of the application, which will automatically remove any malware infection

As a general best practice, make sure you have the most up-to-date updates and security patches and ALWAYS be cautious of clicking any links in emails. If you think you have been infected, please reach out to your IT Representative.
